by posted 05/08/2013

Collegiate Soccer Academy & Academica Futebol Club team up to teach the beautiful gameCollegiate Soccer Academy

CHESHIRE, CT (05/08/13) -
This August 4-8 at the South Kent School in South Kent, Collegiate Soccer Academy (CSA) and Academica Futebol Club will be hosting their 2013 Residential Camp. The camp's curriculum meets two core objectives concerning the game of soccer: fun and progress. This camp presented by CSA & AFC will include varied and creative exercises that are designed to resemble match conditions.

"We feel that our overnight camp is a great balance of all aspects that players want to help develop their game," said AFC Founder Tony Horta. "We have an outstanding staff and a curriculum that incorporates a wide variety of technical and tactical components. All of this is done on a beautiful campus that allows the player to focus on soccer while being in a fun, learning environment."

AFCThere are two distinct Programs associated with this camp: Field Player and Goalkeeper. The Field Player Program targets three facets of play - technical ability, a player's vision on the field and finally, merging both the technical and tactical acumen. The Goalkeeper Program combines the conditioning, techniques, tactics, and psychology necessary to improve performance through two-a-day workouts.

The staff for this year's residential camp will feature: Chris LeGates (5-time GNAC Conference Coach of the Year for University of Saint Joseph), Manuel Oliveira (Owner & Director of Superior Goalkeeping), James Luis (Head Coach, Cheshire H.S. Girls Soccer), Eric Foley (Plymouth H.S. Athletic Director & Crusaders [MA] premier coach), Amanda Carvalho (AFC assistant coach & former University of Connecticut player) and Abby Montambault (AFC assistant coach & former University of Saint Joseph player) as well as various college coaches from the region. They represent the best possible expertise to help the camper develop their natural abilities, improve skills and understand tactics.

Upon acceptance, campers will receive an email with both a medical form (which must be completed prior to registration) and a complete list of what to bring to camp. All current AFC Players will receive a $100 discount if registered ON or BEFORE June 1st, 2013. For the camp brochure, click HERE. If you have any questions, please email AFC at or call AFC Founder Tony Horta at 860-202-2182.
